Parkinson’s disease causes difficulties for the patient and hinders the performance of simple daily tasks like brushing their teeth, taking their medications or simply dressing themselves, among many difficulties they face. Due to these difficulties, I wanted to focus on designing a product that makes everyday living easier while also giving the user autonomy and an enjoyable product experience. After the ideation and validation from the patients I decided that I wanted to design a pill dispenser which encourages autonomy. This pill dispenser can hold enough medication for a week. It will come in a set of 3 because I wanted to divide morning, noon, night dosage to avoid confusion. The caretaker loads the dispensers and the patient could use it as easily as an asthma pump by clamping it between their teeth.
