We wanted to use communication based technology to mitigate the fatal four for on-site construction workers to save the industry around $11.5 billion in direct and indirect costs. We conducted some interviews to gather insights about the construction site safety and to find out if there was a need for improvement in already existing methods and equipment. From our research we realised that there was a communication gap between devices and construction workers in all stages of fatal injury. So we set out to design communication based technology and equipment that would help a construction worker prevent, react or cope with a serious injury on site.
In the group setting I contributed in the research phase. I mainly focused on bringing the ideas to life while taking on the visual design elements from ideation, prototyping, to CAD modelling and rendering the device.
